Omri - “forget this”

This next track is way outside of our comfort zone. Upon first listen, we did not think it would ever be something that we could feature on the blog. We know too little about the genre and it is not a style of music that we often find ourselves pursuing. But this is also why we fell in love with it… Allow us to explain.

Omri is a musical genius. His songwriting goes against everything we’ve been featuring on the blog up until this point, as we’ve fallen into the comfortable groove of featuring styles very similar to the songs that we craft/wish we crafted ourselves– we have played it safe. His latest single, “forget this,” is “a eulogy for a relationship that is still alive.” It is a song about staying with someone who has already emotionally left the building. And it is supposed to be uncomfortable; it is supposed to be outside of everyone’s comfort zone; it is not supposed to feel safe. The fact that we cannot so easily relate to it musically, yet still have it resonate with us on a much deeper level is quite the triumph– an achievement for which every artist should strive.

We have nothing to which we can compare “forget this.” It is as electronic as it is stripped down to its bones. Imagine, if you will, someone borrowing Daft Punk’s typewriter in order to write a distressful love letter… This song is something that every listener must experience, while simultaneously hoping that they never have to experience anything like the story it tells. Take a deep breath and press play on this beautiful and emotionally traumatic ride:
