Olympic Music - “Crowded Room”

Olympic Music has released a song that ticks all the boxes for classic pop. Here is my take on “Crowded Room,” the latest release. The song has a laid-back vibe and features all the iconic 1980s pop elements– not the unpleasant noises Pete Waterman made a career out of… you know, the ones that make us think of perms and shell suits. Olympic Music has left us with only the most excellent examples that bring to mind sweltering summer days spent at the beach.

Simple drums of kick and snare frame the song, creating a really nice, relentless groove. Electric piano and exquisite electric guitar, along with the classic ‘80s saxophone, wonderfully create the atmosphere. In the main passages, the vocal soars, evoking the feeling of power and freedom that defined the hits of the 1980s. However, the song shouldn't just be dismissed as some sort of throwback homage– it has a modern take, which is highlighted by the tasteful stylistic choices, such as the old piano tones that form a solo just before the song ends.  I like it… Well done, Olympic Music… Just wish it was summer now.
