Novanta - “Forever”

Milan-based shoegazers Novanta have just dropped “Forever,” a song with a cinematic production and dreamy vibes for days.

Right out of the gate, the drums deploy a rhythm that demands you to pay attention to it. The soundscape is otherwise quite vacant at the track’s inception, but the frequent notes from a guitar let you know that something wonderful is about to happen. And then, suddenly, the track expands, with bass and keys and vocals, fabricating what could easily be the soundtrack to any of the wonderful dreams that you dream, forever.

The amount of reverb here is next level, with vocals that seem to echo eternally, blissfully adding to those wonderful vibes that we promised earlier. There is just enough distortion on the bass line to keep us completely fastened to the rhythm when, suddenly, the song seems to change directions for the refrain, but that sweet, heavenly vibe persists. “Forever” is so thick with musical elements that you can actually feel it as it enters your ears.

There is something very magical happening here and Novanta have made it extremely easy to imagine an endless summer with the carefully constructed “Forever.” We anticipate that you’ll last about thirty seconds before promptly adding it to your favorite playlist.

Speaking about the track, guitarist Manfredi Lamartina says: “’Forever’ was the first song we worked on for the album and it is, perhaps, our most pop composition ever. We wanted to create a piece that thrives on contrasts, with a dark verse and bright chorus, creating a sound dualism that finds perfect synthesis in the vocal line, which breaks down every genre barrier and makes this piece vibrate with unease. “Forever” is a danceable melancholy.”
