Native Sun - “Adam”

NYC-based indie rockers Native Sun have just released “Adam,” the latest single from their forthcoming LP, Concrete Language.

For music lovers who are hankering for a late-‘60s/ early-‘70s kind of vibe, it is our pleasure to inform you that “Adam” possesses an ardor akin to The Velvet Underground. This vibe is immediately obvious at the press of the play button, as the track slowly fades in before exploding to life with an authentic, retro-tinged intensity. Native Sun have completely ignored any and all modern production tactics and, instead, allow listeners to get an earful of gritty guitars blaring across a tight rhythm section.

Adam” veers ever so slightly into the realm of 1970s punk, with hints of The Stooges lining the production to create a nostalgic cocoon around your listening experience. A subtle tambourine instills sixteenth notes across the sonic space, propelling the music forward with a sense of urgency, while the vocal performance is imbued with more of a laid back, Lou Reed-style of delivery. The song is a fantastic throwback while also bringing a profound sense of “they just don’t make ‘em like they used to.” And you’re going to bob your head and tap your foot every step of the way.

Complete with gang vocals and harmonies in all the right places, “Adam” will make you look forward to the September 19th release of Concrete Language, and will leave a burning desire to catch this band live.
