MVSO - “Passing Through”

If you’re looking to embark upon a raw and emotional journey, you’ve come to the right place. Brooklyn-based duo MVSO have returned to the blog with the acoustically-driven “Passing Through.”

The track fades in quite magnificently, ensuring that your ears are filled with the swelling enchantment of an acoustic guitar. In fact, shortly after pressing the play button, it is easy to recognize “Passing Through” as more of an emotional soundtrack to your introspection than anything else.

The vocals are warm and raw and, for this very reason, we believe every word that they deliver. A healthy dose of reverb has been distributed across the production, so when the subtle vocal layers weave themselves into the arrangement, the result is dreamy and ethereal.

For the majority of “Passing Through,” the sound remains reasonably sparse, with just a distant and angelic synth pad rounding out the soundscape. Flourishes from a second guitar arrive to add some depth before the percussion emerges to give the final third some forward momentum.

All of this culminates to a grand crescendo of haunting sounds that overlap and swirl, guaranteed to keep you coming back for multiple listens. MVSO leave an impression on us with each new release and we truly cannot wait to see what they come up with next.
