Moss Manor - “Anywhere”

Moss Manor is a Michigan-based collaborative project from Seth Bernard, Michael Dause (The Accidentals/Treeskin), and Dan Rickabus (The Crane Wives). At the onslaught of COVID, the three of them began sending tracks back and forth, as we’ve often seen in modern collaborations. The result is something very special and there is never an instant where the listener will doubt that they’re not all in the same room as “Anywhere” plays.

The trio invites you to get lost inside of the dreamy, musical wonderland of “Anywhere.” Sonically soothing, the vocals guide you on your journey as sweet guitar arpeggios noodle their way through a subtle melodic refrain. The bass provides a foundational drone that shifts nicely at transitions. Its presence is most felt when its absence occurs about two thirds in. For those who have taken this journey to anywhere, they are rewarded with a fantastic, immersive experience that is nothing short of transcendent. A brilliant breakdown begins just after 2:12 and builds beautifully into lovely layered vocals repeating: “I don’t wanna go anywhere…anywhere else but here.” It’s definitely the sing along part of the song and serves as a massive payoff for those who chose to take this trip to anywhere.
