Moozy - “Always The End”

Moozy is a fully independent indie rock band from Washington DC and they have knocked it out of the park with their latest release, “Always The End.”

At first listen, music lovers might notice that this track begins in a similar fashion that many of our favorite songs begin, with a gently plucked acoustic guitar and soft vocals. But make no mistake– this is not another beloved indie folk song (not that there would be anything wrong with that, of course). As you listen, around the one-minute mark, the rest of the band makes an appearance and this song takes off, with that gloriously thick ‘70s compression and a soft melody that is reminiscent of Dawes and/or Wilco, two of our faves at UpToHear.

At around a minute and fifty seconds into “Always The End,” we are rewarded with one of the most tastefully delicate guitar solos that we have heard in a long time. It is by no means scorching, blistering, or full of flash, but, instead, utilizes some genre-appropriate effects, elevating the emotion of the song in lieu of showing off via shred wankery. This track also has vocal harmonies in all of the right places, which, if you ever read our blog, you know are one of the best ingredients for a band to utilize in order to thicken up a mix, as well as win a spot on our website.

If you do not know who Moozy is today, we have a feeling that this will change tomorrow. And if the music were not enough, the subject matter, itself, is killer: “This is a song about how every moment is the end of something and how it's important to fully appreciate moments in time before they pass.” I guess the only thing left for you to do is to add it to your favorite playlist…
