Made Of Eyes - “Palms” and “FVM”

Scotland’s Made Of Eyes have just released “Palms” in support of their upcoming 2023 EP. The alt-pop trio intends to release another single at the end of the month, so we figured it was time to review their July offering. When they reached out to us, they claimed that they had poured their heart and soul into this track and, having heard it, we completely believe them. “Palms” is extremely wide in its production, filling up the entire sonic space more than any trio should be capable of doing. It’s the kind of work that may cause the listener to wonder how in the hell they would be able to pull it off in a live setting, without adding several musicians to the lineup or, perhaps, the utilization of backing tracks– or maybe I’m completely wrong and they are simply that good. The use of vocal harmonization is done very tastefully and adds fantastic depth to the already cinematic performance.

Palms” is extremely dreamy and robust in its atmosphere and since their new track, “FVM,” just dropped, let’s have a listen to that one as well….

As you can hear, it’s another winner that sounds much larger than earthly life, though it doesn’t kick in nearly as quickly as “Palms.” Instead, it builds ethereally, letting the listener digest the lyrics while building suspense within the soundscape. However, at the minute-thirteen mark, the beat falls into place and we are off on another journey through what I can only imagine is the soundtrack to some otherworldly future. If Made Of Eyes is any indication of the music being produced in Scotland, I certainly hope that more Scottish musicians see this beacon and beam their creations into our inbox.
