Lindsay Munroe - “Loving Me”

Honing in on our devotion to a vocal that is akin to Phoebe Bridgers and/ or Julien Baker, we are delighted to share the latest track from Lindsay Munroe, entitled “Loving Me.”

Munroe does not waste any time in giving us the good stuff, as her voice almost immediately appears once you’ve pressed the play button. After delicately fading in with what appears to be a synth pad, the vocals greet our ears, rich and robust in harmonization– if you have the pleasure of listening through headphones, it’s like a warm hug for your brain. There were times that we found ourselves waiting for “Loving Me to end only so we could replay and experience it again– and believe us when we say that it works every time. A piano hammers down some slow chords as the track continues…

It seems as though Munroe has given us the gift of keeping every available room noise intact, which is one of the best things to find, especially in modern recordings, when many-a-song comes to us with little-to-no evidence that it was created by actual human beings. In fact, it sounds as though it could be a live performance from some forgotten coffeehouse– or, better yet, from someone’s living room. The second half of the track incorporates some minimalistic percussion and the growing synth pad– it is a very ethereal experience, if we do say so ourselves. And you will be delighted to know that there is nary an instant that does not include those marvelous vocal harmonies.

Upon witnessing the people around her finding healthy and loving relationships, Munroe wrote “Loving Me” in hopes of finding the same, after initially being taught that love could only be difficult and painful. But if the sound of her voice is any indication, we’re gonna go out on a limb and say that this path has been well worth the journey.
