Strange Weather - “Levitating”

Just a few short weeks ago, Strange Weather hit us with “The Canary,” a delightful and compelling musical journey that we still listen to on a daily basis. Today, the USA-based band is back with the indie pop-rocker “Levitating.

This track begins with a powerful beat from the drum kit, making proper use of the tom toms, ensuring that the heads will need to be replaced after the first take. A synth radiates in the background and, soon enough, an electric guitar lets us know that this was made by actual human beings– one of our favorite elements when it comes to modern music. The vocals are next to enter, utilizing a melodic falsetto, slightly reminiscent to the work of artists such as Vampire Weekend.

The guitar provides some ear candy effects, holding the listener’s interest in between the lines of lyrics. When the bass appears, the vocals change to more of a Thom Yorke means of delivery, though not nearly as melancholic– make no mistake: “Levitating” is upbeat and energetic and will get you off of your couch and into your weekend, even if that is simply providing you with a soundtrack for your housework. However, for the more adventurous music lovers, this song will work on the dance floor as well as in the car with friends.

The gang vocals on the refrain will have you bopping along, no matter where you are– and with a runtime that is just under five minutes, we can practically guarantee a decent cardio workout… All you have to do is press play:
