Laveda - “F***”

Laveda was founded by Ali Genevich and Jake Brooks, who released their debut record, What Happens After, in 2020. Although this is our first time hearing from them, upon receiving an earful of their latest single, “F***,” we are definitely going to take a deeper dive into their catalogue because, holy s***, this track kills.

Before we get ahead of ourselves, “F***” is one of those tracks that, as soon as you hit play, you know it’s going to be some sort of monstrously epic build. And that’s exactly what occurs here. They start you off small, with just the gentle strums of the rhythm guitar and subtle hints of the melody from the lead, teasing the ears in both the left and right channels. Genevich’s vocals hit us with “I wanna go crawling in my skin… Faking a smile until it’s hurting” and the anticipation is ablaze as this song immediately becomes a favorite before you’ve even had a chance to hear it in its entirety.

We knew “F***” was a winner the instant it began… There’s something that grows beneath it, making you fully aware that this track is soon going to fill every available spot inside of your headphones. The drums join in, subdued as though under water and that kickass crescendo swells into the full production of the second verse. But as soon as you get used to how lovely it sounds, they turn everything up a notch, with the pounding of the toms, miles away from the song it was at the beginning. At under three minutes, Laveda shows you their hand at covering multiple points in the musical spectrum and “F***” is so F***ing glorious that you will likely play it on repeat for the rest of your lives.

“F***” is available everywhere.
