Lauryn Macfarlane - “Dive”

Montreal-based pop artist Lauryn Macfarlane invites listeners to jump into the mad, mad world of love with her latest release, “Dive.”

As the track begins, warm and synthy notes tenderly warble throughout the soundscape. Some distant, ethereal tones provide a sense of depth and remarkable ambience before the gentle rhythm arrives, bringing with it the strums of an acoustic guitar. Moments later, Macfarlane’s vocal appears in order to explore the depths of romance, urging music lovers to ignore the wave that could, quite possibly, come crashing down upon their hearts.

It is this very wave that Macfarlane is essentially daring to come between her and her newly found affection, as she wrote the song while in the midst of falling for someone. But with experience comes the truth, and with truth comes the glory of honest songwriting. And that is exactly what you will find inside of “Dive.” The track has completely won us over with its ear-worm hook, which is just as strong as any of the examples you will encounter on modern radio.

In its three-minute runtime, Macfarlane’s superb vocal work is bound to convince even the most philophobic individuals to give love a chance, though we are confident that it is not a requirement in order to thoroughly enjoy the sounds of “Dive.”
