Kingfisher - “Wrapped Up”

Swedish-based Kingfisher have just released the banging indie rock number, “Wrapped Up.” Starting with a spoken word clip, stating: “Max Weber said it best, the brain lays the world to rest” and giving the song an unusual intellectual intro, it quickly bursts into vibrant energetic guitars.

The guitars, for me, are the real highlight of this song, playing either melodic, up-tempo grooves or more rhythmic and texture-based lines. The contrasts in the guitar playing make sure that the song is constantly evolving and interesting. The bass and drums work together really well, enhancing the grooves and keeping the song compelling. The song’s guitar solo is based on lush glistening arpeggios that offer a real nice sense of refreshment as they fly over the top of the high-octane rhythm section.

Front and centre is the vocal performance. It is brimming full of energy and vibrancy as it relentlessly rolls out the song’s lyrics. There is a sense of fun and enthusiasm, which has been really well captured by whoever is pressing the buttons behind the mixing desk.

Overall, this indie rock number by Kingfisher is fun, fast, and dynamic. The guitar work is well produced and anyone who likes up-tempo indie should be adding “Wrapped Up” to their playlists.
