Jackie West - “End of the World”

Boston-born, St. Louis-raised, and Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter Jackie West has just released the heavenly sounds of “End of the World.”

This ethereal track begins with a few quick plucks of acoustic guitar strings before West’s vintage-inspired vocal performance is underway. Her voice is nothing short of a dream as she effortlessly delivers a story that traverses the aftermath of a failed relationship. The glorious sounds of orchestral strings sweep themselves across the sparse arrangement, providing wondrous moments of ebb and flow throughout the production. But the star of this divine show is, without a doubt, West’s vocal, which has the ability to imbue you with an emotional weight that may very well end with you in a fetal position.

Midpoint brings some tender moments of an additional vocal layer, which is just another reason we’ve found “End of the World” completely irresistible. The track provides a cathartic and mesmerizing soundtrack to a feeling that we’ve all suffered, perhaps much more than once. And even if you’ve found yourself in the lucky position of never having had your heart removed from your chest, we are confident that you, too, will find something to love within this delightful dreamscape of a tune.
