Nashville based Jack Shields takes us on a journey through conflicted nostalgia in his gorgeous new indie rock track “Sister.”

Sister” opens to the mellow rhythmic tones of electric guitar. This warm foundation creates a pleasing sense of intimacy until we reach the track’s mid-point. Layers are thoughtfully added, slowly building the tracks dynamics. Bass provides a deep foundation while drums lend a steady sense of forward momentum. The real instrumental highlight is the sweet rolling and crying tones of pedal steel guitar. The vivid and expressive playing really imbues a sense of emotion into the composition.

At the halfway mark, the rhythm guitar become more assertive, laying the groundwork for the song’s crescendo. As the crescendo breaks, the pedal steel guitar steals the show with a soaring and spectacularly expressive solo. The vocals of Jack Shields are the perfect companion to this track. The delivery permeates a sense of tender, expressive intimacy that effortlessly draws you into the composition.
