i shiver - “Piece By Piece”

Berlin-based i shiver returns to us with the sweet and genuine sounds of “Piece By Piece,” a folksy tune that is bound to resonate deeply with all who hear.

The track resides primarily in an upper vocal register, with divine moments of falsetto, immediately dazzling your ears at the press of the play button. An acoustic guitar is meticulously finger-plucked as the vocals emotively embark on a heartfelt journey, void of even the slightest hint of over-processing.

Upon the arrival of the second verse, i shiver has deployed a soft and distant padding of synthy strings, allowing the track to reach deeply into the sonic universe. We were initially drawn to his work because of its slight similarity to the music of Novo Amor, one of our favorites, and around the midpoint of “Piece By Piece,” the layers of vocals bring about the same, wonderful sensation.

Some deep bass is utilized as the synth swells, bringing a finely tuned crescendo to the arrangement. Combined with the well-calculated strums of the acoustic guitar, “Piece By Piece” steadily climbs the peak of its production, resulting in a culmination of sound and emotion that will have you returning to it, over and over again.
