Humbird - “Song for the Seeds”

From her forthcoming LP, Right On, Minnesota-based Humbird returns to the blog with the wonderfully folksy sounds of “Song for the Seeds.”

This track is built on a magnificent crescendo that first begins with a sparse soundscape comprised of various synth tones. They gently pulsate, providing an electronically-driven rhythm to “Song for the Seeds,” and you should not be surprised if you find your feet tapping immediately upon pressing play.

Humbird’s sweet vocal soon arrives, weaving conversations with nature into her verses, imagining the simplicity of life from the point of view of flowers. On the refrain, the arrangement expands with a wondrous vocal harmony and mellotron, sending the track into its gradual and majestic climb.

From there, listeners should anticipate the arrival of a fully fleshed-out beat, some deep notes from the bass, and the time-tested sounds of an acoustic guitar. Additional vocal layers also meander their way into the production, providing an ever-growing width to the sonic space.

By the time “Song for the Seeds” reaches its final third, it has grown ten times its original size, much akin to the way anything in nature will grow if it receives enough attention from the universe. And while we’re not sure if this is intentional or not, it makes for one hell of a metaphor.

Humbird’s new record, Right On, will be available on April 12th and we suggest you jump on the pre-order. Until then, connect with Humbird on the socials: Instagram | Facebook | Spotify | Patreon
