Humbird - “Blueberry Bog”

Minnesota-based Humbird has just released the nostalgic, free-flowing folk-rock track, “Blueberry Bog.”

Blueberry Bog” is founded around an acoustic guitar, strummed swiftly with a steady up-down groove. This not only propels the track forward, but also provides a satisfying rhythmic stability and percussive texture. The lively energy almost encourages you to tap your feet, especially when the punchy heartbeat of the kick drum is introduced.

Splashes of upbeat handclaps and tambourine beautifully enhance the track’s bubbly, infectious vibe. The driving bass line provides a solid foundation that comes complete with an exquisite retro vibe. All the elements work elegantly together, permeating the feel of a classic track akin to the analogue recordings from the early 1970s.

The real highlight for me is the electric guitar solo, filled with a series of melodic ascending and descending runs. The tones are bright, punchy, and filled with raw, energetic spirit that is delightfully reminiscent of early rock ‘n’ roll. In some ways, the solo also reminds me of The Beatles track “Get Back.”

As with all of the Humbird tunes we’ve encountered, the vocals pleasantly and warmly sail over the music. The soulful and expressive delivery is imbued with a sense of empowerment and release, effortlessly conveying the relatable storytelling lyrics.

Blueberry Bog” is a track that feels like a joyous return to the basics of good, old-fashioned rock’n’roll. The music rides high on a youthful energy and optimism and comes from Humbird’s new record, Right On, which is now available everywhere:
