Hot Apple Band - “So Long”

Hot Apple Band have shared new alt-country/rock single “So Long,” a song filled with nostalgic tones, dreamy vocals, and some really awesome guitar lines.

The music immediately immerses you in great vintage tones. A laid-back drum groove sets the pace, whilst warm bass pulses underneath. Honky-tonk piano punctuates the main areas of the song and satisfyingly adds to the melody with great tinkering throughout. The song’s noteworthy texture, though, is the lush, electric guitar lines. “So Long” is simply littered effortlessly with great riffs and licks.

As all these elements play off each other, it gives the track a quality akin to The Rolling Stones' classic “You Can't Always Get What You Want.” This, for me, is especially true at the end of the song, as the music builds to a crescendo. The song’s guitar solos, however, are where I feel the production truly shines. I am a guitarist, so I feel like I have to say this, but these solos emanate tones that perfectly capture the spirit of the song and have a satisfying improvised quality.

The vocal and accompanying backing harmonies that embellish the tune are pure, solid gold. Both performances are gentle and similarly give off the same 1960s tones as the music. I want to draw parallels to The Everly Brothers and The Beatles, but these tones are silkier.

Hot Apple Band’s “So Long” is a superb alt-country/rock track that oozes nostalgic tones both from the music and vocals. The song is taken from their debut album So Long, Noodle House, which is set for release on November 24th.
