Henny Herz - “Nightnight”

Nightnight” is the first single from German artist Henny Herz’s upcoming album, We All Heal At Night. The track, like the rest of the forthcoming album, is dedicated to the themes of sleep and healing.

Nightnight” is wonderfully stripped-back and intimate, with the prolific sense of a moment being captured. The song is wistfully unpolished, with the odd blemish or imperfection left in. This gives the song a delightfully endearing quality. Warm, analogue tones also gorgeously enhance this mood.

The song is founded around the inviting and soothing tones of acoustic guitar that weave a gentle folk foundation. As the song progresses, an almost ambient mood begins to permeate the arrangement, with subtle, breezy padding layers. This reaches a climax at the song’s gentle crescendo, where more guitar layers meditatively arpeggiate.

The vocal of Herz can only be described as delightfully sublime. There is a palpable sense of tranquillity and beauty in her breathy delivery. Surrounded in places by harmonising backing layers, the performance is truly dreamy and immersive.

Nightnight” is a truly stunning indie folk song. The intimate tones feel like a lullaby designed to gently carry you peacefully to sleep. I can guarantee that, once you press play, you will be adding this track to your favorite folksy playlists.
