Hearing Trees - "Another Ten Minutes”

The newest song from Canadian poetry art rock band Hearing Trees is titled "Another Ten Minutes." It's a tale about conversations that you don't want to finish, from their intriguing beginnings to their bittersweet closure. The live feel of the recording of this song, which I really like, really stands out to me. When I listen, I get the idea that this sounds like the pre-show sound check of a band that you haven't heard before, but it also immediately captures your attention in the empty room. But don't misunderstand me—the polish and mix on this song are just gorgeous and definitely not low-fi. The drums add a fantastic flow to the tune. Both pan sides of the mix are filled with delicate guitar work. Different guitars are playing in different octaves, but creating a melody which dances around each other. I also like how the song dynamically rises and then pulls back before exploding into the majestic end chorus.

This song is taken from Small Talk, their new EP, which is a collection of five songs portraying various conversations: the cribbage player, the confidant, the protestor, the stargazer, and the brother.
