Hazlett - “Stolen Seasons”

Rounding out his new EP, Goodbye to the Valley Low, Hazlett has just released the extraordinary sounds of “Stolen Seasons.” Along with the rest of the record, this tune will move you to new levels of introspection– and we should know, since we’ve featured every other song on the EP.

If you live on another planet or, through some strange circumstance/ twist of fate, are otherwise unfamiliar with the elegant and dreamy work of Hazlett, you need to get “Stolen Seasons” into your ears ASAP. He has truly perfected the formula to create music that conjures an emotional response in the listener, as evidenced here, in the way the acoustic guitar delicately dances with the pedal steel, creating an elaborate and vivid soundscape.

And of course, the tell-tale sign that it’s a Hazlett song– his voice arrives, reverberating and layered to a heavenly level of perfection. There’s a reason that he’s been featured on our blog eight times and his vocal performance is all the proof you need in order to be convinced that this man was born to sing his stories to the world.

Stolen Seasons” is a remarkable exemplar of an organic and natural dynamic powerhouse. Elements are added and removed over its course that create an exquisite ebb and flow and we find ourselves wishing the EP was twice as long, though we are more than happy to listen to all six songs in a constant loop until his next release. You should do the same:
