Perry Foster - “The Lucky One”

Perry Foster has decided to send us his new track, “The Lucky One,” a delightfully intimate folk song.

Upon pressing play on “The Lucky One,” it will become blatantly obvious as to why we’ve decided to feature Foster on the blog. The music is presented in just enough of a melancholic fashion, with a guitar and piano duet, that it will cause any careful listener to recall the work of the late and great Elliott Smith. This changes, of course, once Foster begins singing, as he beholds a truly unique voice that seems to be destined to sing this folkier style of music.

At about 40 seconds in, we are joined by background vocals so thick that they might as well be a choir– they saturate the space behind the song and elegantly lift the entire production– it is all quite magnificent. And finally, around 70 seconds, the drums enter, once more elevating the music to new sonic heights as we enter the next verse. A synth pad glides along with the performance, and no listener can hear “The Lucky One” without being completely sonically satisfied.
