After releasing their six-song collection, Neon Bedroom, back in March of 2022, Stockholm-based duo NAYAD is back with “Far Away from Reason,” the title track from their new EP. If you press play and discover that they sound familiar, it might be because you’ve been watching Emily in Paris, The Sex Lives of College Girls, and/or The Other Two. But if you press play and you find that you’ve never heard them before, congrats– you’re listening to one of your new favorite artists!

Far Away from Reason” is a very gentle indie pop masterpiece that will sooth you to your very core. The track begins with a full band production, allowing the bass, drums, and keys to pave the way so that the reverberated guitar can hit you with a marvelous melody. You may then realize that you’ve been instantly transported to a late night drive along some unknown coastline, or even fumbling through your memories of past love affairs, but this song will, without a doubt, reach in and stir up some forgotten emotions.

The vocals feed right into this feeling and while they promise not to “control you,” they do exactly that as they lure you far away from the daily grind on a cloud of tranquility. And although they have a touch of saturation that provides some warm distortion, they remain sympathetic enough to offer some reassurance as they guide you into the dynamic break. Here, the production is peeled back to a wonderful piano performance, with the vocals now coated in a thick sheen of sublime reverb. But fear not, for NAYAD brings that tender rhythm back in the end, long enough to bid you a fond farewell. “Far Away from Reason” is definitely a keeper.
