Ben Pagano / The Eaves

New York City-based multi-instrumentalist Ben Pagano has published his third album, titled Exploring Dreams. The songs on this record were written following the emotions evoked by reoccurring dreams. The title track, “Exploring Dreams,” is his most recent single, and an overall great tune. Its instrumentation has a very classic pop/rock vibe from the 1970s, but also lends some great individuality that I really dig. Ben veers almost on the edge of psychedelic. Whoever was in charge of the desk has done a great job mixing the music, and his unusual but fitting vocals fit the vibe he's aiming to set. The song has some pretty beautiful dynamics, and the conclusion nearly sounds like a show performance in a late-night whisky bar. The album shows a creative blending of genres, and in places feels theatrical. It's a must-listen to and one of my favourites so far this year.

The sound of The Eaves’ “It'll Be Okay” is similar to the mellower examples in Blondie’s music catalogue. This is a classic example of indie pop music and is designed to uplift the spirit and features a catchy guitar riff and trumpet pads. The song's vocal delivery is distinctive since it alternates between periods of conventional singing and growling, baritone-like whispers. Check out their video for “It’ll Be Okay:”
