Roofman - “dreaming about a regular monday”

Dutch singer-songwriter Thijs van der Meulen, aka Roofman, returns to us with the wonderfully diaphanous sounds of “dreaming about a regular monday.”

The first fifth of the track is spent in an ethereal bliss, as swirls of synth churn and flow, making for one heck of an intro. Thijs’ vocal soon arrives, warm and authentic, just as we’ve come to know and love it to be. As the song enters your ears, it is very easy to get lost within its cinematic and atmospheric sound – you may find it difficult to believe that it was recorded entirely in a bathroom.

A lavish acoustic guitar drives the arrangement, but, for us, a major highlight here is the ghostly slide guitar, delivering those otherworldly sounds that often prove impossible for us to resist. As you listen, you will notice that “dreaming about a regular monday” is void of any percussion, though you will not miss it, considering the vastness of its reverberation and the overall dreaminess of the production.

About the track, Thijs adds: “This is just me complaining about myself and the lifestyle I've chosen. Feeling sick and tired from all the partying. Hating my boredom and lack of motivation to change my attitude.”

Do yourself a favor and take the two-and-a-half minute voyage that “dreaming about a regular monday” has to offer. This is the first single from Roofman’s upcoming EP, 8 songs from the bathroom (1-4), which will be available everywhere in early January, so be sure to watch Roofman’s instagram for updates.
