Denver, Colorado-based psychedelic superheroes Dragondeer once again appear on our blog with the vintage vibes of “Across The Waves,” the title track from their brand-spanking-new LP.

Pressing play on this tune invites you into the authentic soundscapes of yesteryear, void of modern production wizardry and digital manipulation. Instead, you get the delightfully warm studio sounds of actual human beings who have obviously put blood, sweat, and tears into mastering their craft.

Within the first few seconds of “Across The Waves,” listeners are injected with a retro-inspired rhythm section, complete with drums, bass, and guitar that appear to know no bounds when it comes to vibe. The rafters of the song have a melody that’s been woven by some sort of ethereal backing vocals and the amount of ghostly disco aura that they provide cannot be ignored.

But if you’ve never before blessed your ears with the sounds of Dragondeer, prepare to be blown away by the vocal work. If the music has not yet convinced you that you’ve awoken some magnificent beast from the 1970s, the vocals will finish banging in that final nail. These things pour directly into your earholes via some of the most magnificent falsettos that the genre has to behold.

For roughly five minutes, you will be enchanted by a relentless groove as “Across The Waves ebbs and flows, likely stirring up memories of every good time you’ve ever experienced. And you’ll be pleased to know that this track is not some sort of fluke, as we have it on good authority that the rest of the album is bound to move you just the same.

So give this one a spin, add it it to your playlists, and keep a watchful eye on Dragondeer because we have a feeling these guys are about to blow up.
