Disco In Sochi, an act born from the Covid lockdowns and captained by Anglo-French Londoner Alex Allen, bring us “Diva”…. A tune that rips it up with bass and tight drumming… driving us through a classic, up-tempo, indie disco formula.
This song could have easily been released during the post-punk/new-wave revival during the early noughties… inspiring the same energetic, urban, anxious, anthemic mood.
The track is definitely a dance floor filler rather than a mosh pit killer. Texturally, “Diva” is highly reminiscent of Bloc Party, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and, vocally, a coolly disinterested Jack White…
After a few plays of some of Disco In Sochi’s tunes… they get my thumbs up.
