Wavesfactory Cassette review

Want that Lo-fi sound?

Wavesfactory Cassette is one of the more convincing cassette tape emulations I have come across. It brings something to the table that SketchCassette and Super VHS don’t have… and I can’t quite put my finger on what that is. As for Klevgrand… well this plugin… sorry guys… makes you look underwhelming.

Wavesfactory state “Cassette has been carefully modelled after exhaustive analysis of a high number of sound signals recorded into real tapes”… and that legend Greg Wells claims it is one of his favourite plugins… so this is definitely a good start!

The plugin comes with a sleek user-friendly interface ready to give your mixes subtle to aggressive saturation, modulation, wow, flutter, artifacts and character of the once loved audio format. The memories of the old Walkman you had, mix tapes, listening to your favourite songs in the car… and that pencil you used to wind the tape back in… will be relived.

But this is definitely not a sterile or simple plugin. Some of the best features are (unfortunately) hidden in a settings window… so have a look out for that!

Wavesfactory Cassette will allow you to find those subtle nuances you are after to lo-fi your mix.

Finally, one of the great things is the pricing of this plugin.
