Sweetbreads - “Chaos Is”

Chaos Is,” the new single from Brooklyn-based Sweetbreads, is just as sweet as their moniker would imply.

The track immediately wins over its listener with some ultra-vibey slide guitar, an element that we wish more folksy artists would incorporate into their work. Beneath this vibrant sound, there strums an acoustic guitar, and “Chaos Is” is off to a fantastic start. The vocals begin and Melody Stolpp’s voice is somewhat reminiscent of Zooey Deschanel– it is soothing, sincere, and we knew that we had to feature this song on the blog as soon as we heard her sing.

Thirty seconds in, our ears are greeted by the song’s full production, with bass and drums offering a sturdy, retro-inspired foundation. By the time we land on the refrain, we can imagine ourselves on the rocket mentioned in the lyrics, as this song brings about all the emotions within its subject matter, which is about “…life in the suburbs, with all the boredom, recklessness, and soul searching that come with it.” Listeners, both young and old, are bound to enjoy every piece of vivid imagery.

Overall, “Chaos Is” contains a plethora of elements that make it a song worth hearing multiple times. From the slide guitar and the overall vintage vibe, to the lovely vocals and their elegant harmonies, this song causes its listener to look forward to summer while also conjuring up the nostalgia of summers past. And we simply cannot get enough of it.
