Cereus Bright - “Chasing the Feeling”

USA-based freak-folk artist Cereus Bright delves deep into the feelings of longing on his new single, “Chasing the Feeling.” The track is warm and beautifully melancholic, packed full of gentle, dreamlike tones.

The song opens with a warm and mellow organ pad, setting the stage for the gentle and dreamy atmosphere that is to come. Lap steel guitar briefly enters before the song finds its cool and collected groove. Acoustic guitar adds a brightness to the composition, whilst the bass contrasts with its deeper melodic tones. A woodwind instrument, which I believe is clarinet, gives the song a dash of melodic colour.

The song’s ability to capture a cool, breezy, and dreamy mood that envelops the listener is what really stands out here. Cereus Bright removes the drums in certain sections, allowing these warm currents to swell to the fore and gently melt away, thanks to the use of reverb. The vocals convey a sense of warmth and introspection, while the backing vocals harmonize gorgeously, giving the song a luscious depth and intensity.

Lyrically, “Chasing the Feeling” explores the feeling of constantly seeking something more, something different, and thoughts of discontent along the way. The artist says: “Chasing the Feeling charts the kinds of longings we all have, it’s nostalgic… it felt important to make it more subtle and melancholy. For me, that’s what the core of this feeling really is – a quiet desire to return to something better than today.”

Chasing the Feeling,” by Cereus Bright, is a captivating song full of introspection and gorgeous textures. This is definitely not one to be missed.
