CAROUSELS - “In The City”

Denmark-based CAROUSELS have just released the indie pop rock classic “In The City.” This awesome track is filled with fun-loving textures and soulful melodies.

In The City” has the magical feel of many pop classics. The song opens to a drum groove that is reminiscent to the infectious beat of “Be My Baby” by The Ronnettes. As the guitars enter the track takes on the rhythmic staccato feel of “Roxanne” by The Police. But this song is not some carbon copy of classic songs– the track is a lush, retro-tinged modern-day instant classic. “In The City” ebbs and flows with contrasting textures, driving bass lines, and Motown-infused backing vocals that are reminiscent of Paul Weller.

The track is filled with gorgeous instrumentation, whether it is the soft organ pads, dreamy bell electric piano tones, or rich electric guitars. The groove is king and you will find it hard not to resist. The vocals on “In The City” have a gentle, fun-loving vibe with a nice tinge of soul. They breezily reach falsetto in all the right places, conveying a satisfying sense of passion. The backing vocals are just as light and spirited. Overall, the performance is simply fabulous.

Lyrically, “In The City” is about the love interest that got away. They move to the city and the crush intensifies. The lyrics illustrate a yearning for love that we can all relate to. CAROUSELS have created a striking three-minute indie pop / rock song here. Brimmed full of soul, “In The City” is not one to miss.
