Brad Wilson - “Even Monsters”

From New Jersey, USA, singer-songwriter Brad Wilson returns to our blog with the vintage-toned indie rock ballad, “Even Monsters.”

Even Monsters” embodies that unmistakeable soft rock vibe that made the mid 1970s so unbelievably great.  With a sublime melancholic optimism generated from the melodically restless bass and restrained, elegant drum beat you will soon find yourself toe tapping. The loose, buoyant sway would not feel out of place on the radio friendly albums of McCartney’s Band On The Run or even Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours. Breathing openly on top are the gentle, sun-drenched tones of acoustic guitar, shimmering flourished of electric guitar and warm electric piano. The playing is delightfully economical, delicate, yet acts like a velvet cushion on your ears.

Wilson’s sincere vocal serves as the perfect complement to the nostalgic groove. The performance is a soulful masterclass in understated emotion. With warm phrasing and tender harmonies, there is a pleasing lived in quality to the delivery. Gently led through a narrative that is pleasingly reflective, poetic and in places vulnerable you cannot help but feel safe in Wilson’s hands.

Sonically, “Even Monsters” is quite simply near perfect with its analog tinged layers and charming vocals. Timeless with a sweet personal touch, “Even Monsters” is the first track to be taken from Brad Wilson’s forthcoming EP, slated for release later this year.
