Bo Milli - “Come After Me”

Norwegian artist Bo Milli has just released the gorgeous dream pop song, “Come After Me.” The track is vivid, bright, and is infused with youthful charm.

Beginning with an alluring yet simple arrangement, the song is propelled by the interaction between a rolling bass line and an energetic drum beat. This stripped-back production allows all the focus to shine on Bo Milli. The track steadily builds as reverb permeates the air and fuzzy electric guitar tones prepare us for more textures to arrive.

The reverb creates a sense of the layers being pushed away from the listener. As the chorus hits, it bursts like a dam breaking. This tension and release is satisfying and you cannot help but get lost in the textures that rush int your ears. Bright acoustic guitar chords wash over us as jangly guitar patterns create a melodic tapestry that evokes memories of summers spent in the sun and contemplation.

The dynamic break in the song begins with the cascade of jangling guitars fading away to the stripped-back, gorgeous elements that comprise this song, like the bass and the dazzling voice of Bo Milli. Her vocals are playful, gentle, and intimate with a breezy yet soaring tone. Supporting backing vocals are added in places to fill space in the arrangement and heighten the dreamy ambience. The song ends with an understated yet gorgeously unusual guitar solo that reinforces the happy and lamenting, romantic tones present in the song.

Speaking more on “Come After Me,” Bo Milli adds: “I’m fantasising about a big romantic gesture from someone I'm worried might not be that interested. I'm walking home from a party they're still at, overthinking the whole night and feeling that if they come after me, that'll somehow prove we're on the same page. Although I haven't told them how I feel, I hope they'll know to leave the party and run after me like in the movies.”

Come After Me” is another faultless dream pop song from the Norwegian artist. The song is taken from her new EP, which will be released in the coming months.
