Bluhm - “Candy”

Detroit, MI-based Bluhm have just gifted us a stunning indie folk gem with “Candy.” This stunning love song is hauntingly stripped-back and layered with dreamy, lamenting layers.

Candy” is built around a backbone of inviting acoustic guitar. With its soothing tones, the guitar’s slow groove adds a pleasing texture to the arrangement. As the track progresses, layers are added thoughtfully in order to enhance the mood. Drums provide forward momentum as a deep bass gently pulses underneath.

The icing on the cake is provided by beautiful electric slide guitar. Used sparingly, it enhances the longing and dreamy atmosphere. Its weeping, melancholic sounds are nothing but spellbinding. The closing section of “Candy” is gorgeously wistful and atmospheric as the track begins to crescendo.

The lead vocal of the song perfectly complements the arrangement with an intimate performance that permeates dreamy reflective tones. The backing vocals that enter their stride during the crescendo give exquisite harmonizing support.

With “Candy,” Bluhm have given us a captivating track that will leave listeners wanting more. If this tune strikes a chord with you, make sure to check out their debut album Garden of Hearts, now available everywhere.
