Benji Tranter | Danny Rivas

On January 20th, fans of indie folk will be delighted to find a new album available from Welsh singer-songwriter Benji Tranter. As legend has it, Tranter took a five year hiatus before settling into this lo-fi, home-recorded collection of music entitled Songs to Make You Happy. And we are here to tell you that they will, indeed, do exactly as advertised. His latest single, “To Your Eyes,” provides the listener with a very raw and atmospheric performance that is the musical equivalent of being cozied up next to the fireplace– which is particularly useful if you do not have a fireplace in your home… Simply grab a cup of your favorite hot beverage, press play, and let Tranter’s music keep you warm all winter long.

Danny Rivas is another songwriter that we are very excited to share with you. His latest single, “VHS Prom, June 1971,” has enough nostalgia baked into it that many listeners will be immediately transported back to a time when music was thick and creamy. The imagery provided in the lyrics is bound to take your hand and lead you to a time before smart phones– a land of denim jackets and poofy hair, muscle cars and paper routes– or very likely something different for everyone. The point is that this song has such a fantastic vibe that you should stop what you’re doing, take a moment to listen, and reminisce on simpler times– anything to ease the pain and anxiety of modern life. Instead of writing a review, this is our way of saying thank you to Rivas for writing and releasing this track. It is pure gold and we are looking forward to his EP, due out on January 20th.
