Band of Revelations - “All the Way Home”

London-based songwriter Johnny Lloyd introduces his new musical project Band of Revelations via the debut single, “All the Way Home,” a nostalgic sound with modern emotional weight.

All the Way Home” is already receiving accolades, making an exclusive debut on Rolling Stone UK. And once you’ve pressed that play button, this will all be completely justified. It begins with a distinct, 1970s piano-driven arrangement that is immediately alluring to fans of Americana-tinged indie pop-rock. Of course, this catchy conglomeration is sealed with some angelic auxiliary vocals that glue the whole thing together, all while adding an additional level of an earworm melody.

Atop the slow, steady rhythm, the churning of an organ, and infectious licks from the lead guitar, Lloyd delivers a vocal performance that is bound to resonate with fans of Billy Strings, Jesse Wells, and Jeff Tweedy. On the refrain, a double-time beat elevates the hook to new levels of anthemic proportion, incorporating a loosely double-tracked texture to offer listeners a sense of epic width.

About the song, Lloyd adds that “All the Way Home” is “…about losing love and the journey back to yourself after experiencing grief… a new beginning rather than an ending… In writing about grief I realised it was something that bonds us all as people. We all lose the people we love at some point and maybe that’s some common ground in such a divided world.”

The structure is simple: two verses and a double chorus tacked on at the end, but there’s something magical happening here that will leave you with no choice but to add “All the Way Home” to all of your favorite playlists.
