Atta Boy – “Silt”
Los Angeles-based indie band Atta Boy have returned to us with “Silt,” the title track for their new LP.
Atta Boy have been bringing tons of readers to the blog, and once you’ve heard “Silt,” you will understand how they've cultivated such a loyal following. The song creeps in with reverberating string noise from an electric guitar as a droning tone from what appears to be an organ drifts in across the top. The soft strums of acoustic guitar find their place in the arrangement, bringing “Silt” to life and highlighting its folksy lifeblood.
A brushed rhythm takes shape, inviting in some subdued notes from the bass as the vocal performance emerges. One thing we noticed when we previously featured Atta Boy was lead vocalist Eden Brolin’s manner of delivering lines of lyrics in an Adrianne Lenker kind of way, and that Big Thief energy is alive and well in “Silt.” Quiet and delicate, the words reach your ears like a dream you had when you were young.
The only issue we have with “Silt” is that it has to end. The good news is that, depending on your streaming service, there’s nothing stopping you from putting it on an endless loop.
