New York City-based folk artist Arsun Sorrenti, aka Arsun, has just released the 1960s-tinged musical stylings of “If You Must Leave,” one of many fantastic songs from his debut LP, Babe I Hear Thunder in Your Heart.

This one begins with some gently strummed acoustic guitar atop a barebones rhythm section. The tempo is tapped out via hi-hat and tambourine, with some occasional bass provided by the root notes. The vibe is distinctly of the classic, analog variety and we were drawn into its vintage charm immediately.

Some subtle organ lends the tune an ambient pad as Arsun begins his delightfully rootsy vocal performance. His delivery is raw and filled with passion and once it enters your ears, you end up believing every word of it. As the track progresses, the rhythm section gains some weight and momentum, particularly over the refrain.

If You Must Leave” has a timeless warmth and intensity that is bound to appeal to music lovers across multiple generations and genres. It is a diverse, mellifluous concoction that combines the flair of Bob Dylan with the flavor of Kevin Morby, resulting in one hell of of a vintage-imbued folk song that will leave you begging to hear the rest of the record. The good news is that you can do this right now, as Babe I Hear Thunder in Your Heart is available everywhere:
